What should I do after an accident?

Video Transcript

The first thing you need to do is get all of your information together, meaning your driver’s license, proof of insurance, and give that to the other person as well as collect that information from them as well. Also, take down any names and numbers of any witnesses at the scene. It is important to get as much information as you can at the scene, because that is going to be where everybody’s memory is the freshest. So, you know, like I said, if there are witnesses there, you want to make sure they give their side of the story to the police officer, or the responding person who arrives. You want to make sure you told the police officer your side of the story, and just make sure you photograph your vehicle and photograph the other vehicle as well. It is going to be important in any case where there is dispute of liability that you have all that information together, so that the attorney can make a decision as to whether or not they believe they can help you in your claim.
