Why should I not settle my case after the first offer?

Video Transcript

Well, insurance companies like to try to get cases resolved very quickly, and so, if you are unrepresented, you may find out real quickly that an insurance adjuster calls you immediately and offers you some kind of money. I would say that is unadvisable, because you do not know how hurt you are, you do not know the extent of your injuries. However, even if you are represented by a lawyer, the first offer an adjuster makes is most likely not going to be his last offer. And a lot of these insurance companies have junior level adjusters, senior level adjusters, and then even litigation adjusters. And what they do is they come out of the gate, and they try to offer you as less money as possible, because the lesser money they have to pay you the more money they can make for their shareholders and keep for their company.
