When a lawsuit is finalized who actually pays the claim?

One of the things that people don’t know, and, in particular, we’re not even able to say at trial, is that when someone gets in a wreck or in an accident we have to sue the individual. We can’t sue the person’s insurance company directly, but, ten times out of ten, if we end up filing suit, an insurance company is the one who is defending the case and they’re also the ones who are going to be paying whatever verdict it is or settlement that comes as a result.
So there’s a there’s a misconception a lot of times at trial where a jury will ask well is Mr. Johnson gonna have to pay for this? Mr. Johnson isn’t going to have to pay for this. It’s his insurance company. But we can’t say that at trial.
