How do I know if a loved one is suffering from nursing home abuse?

Video Transcript

First, check for physical indications: bed sores, bruising. Those are all very important things. Your loved ones should not have bed sores. There are a lot of preventative measures that nursing homes should put in place for those. Also, as much as you can, try to communicate with your loved one. I know sometimes that is difficult, but try to draw out of them what is going on with them on daily basis. And, very importantly, watch how your loved ones react when staff comes into the room. We have actually seen cases where our clients were afraid of the nursing home staff, because of the abuses that they had suffered.
